Hearing Aid Fitting
15 years’ aural rehabilitation experience in the NHS has taught Ruth that when it comes to hearing aid selection, fitting procedures are as important as, if not more important than, the technology/price tag.
Digital hearing aids can be programmed to the individual client’s needs depending on their daily type of activities. To ease the habituation process, a hearing aid should be fitted to the individual’s ear by using Real-Ear Measurements, taking all the individual acoustical parameters of the patient’ s ear into account.
Advancements in smartphone and Bluetooth technology means that hearing aids can be used for hands-free calls, streaming music from a phone directly to hearing aids, listen to podcasts and stream TV straight to the hearing aids.
A favourable option for the environment, convenience and long-term savings are rechargeable hearing aids.
Kinsale Hearing provides a wide range of different digital Hearing Aids options to suit individual hearing loss, cosmetic and financial preferences.
Bone Anchored Hearing Aid (BAHA) trails available at Kinsale Hearing.
Hearing Aid Review
After a 4-week trial period, the hearing aid, more often than not, needs fine-tuning as the client has started to habituate to the hearing aids. This free appointment is important to give the audiologist the opportunity to make adjustments to the hearing aid while taking subjective real-live situations into account.
Hearing Aid Repair
Hearing aids do need some minor maintenance, most of which can be done at home like cleaning and re-tubing. We are happy to undertake any minor maintenance or repairs at the practice. For more serious repairs, the aids will have to be sent back to the manufacturer. Every purchased hearing aid at Kinsale Hearing will have a minimum of 2-year manufacturer’s guarantee with an option to extend this.
